Dar Es Salaam

We have arrived in Dar! In Lusaka much to our amazement, though in classic African style, it took our mechanic a week to tell us he could not get parts for Luke's bike or fix it in any way. So the very same day we made our way to the bus/train offices/stations and found a train that leaves twice a week for Dar was leaving the next day. We figured it would be better to try our luck in Dar, it being a bigger city, a port and having more motorbikes on the streets.

The train ride itself was fun. It was a long 48hr ride that was more like 52 hours but took us through some amazing country side. Ironically it was also cheaper for our bikes to ride on the train than us - thus is life. Travelling on public transport is very different. One is that you meet many more locals from various walks of life. Riding the bikes we tend to meet people where we end up, not so much on the way. That was a welcomed change. Another difference was we couldn't change our direction, stop anywhere or explore certain areas. Which was frustrating but we did make the ear 2000km trek in two days.

By the way, I'm stil grieving over my loss of memory cards etc - why this post doesnt have many photos of Zambia, but Im getting back into the swing of photographing.

Tomorrow we will try and pick up our bikes from the Toyota mechanic in town and make our way to Zanzibar. Yet to see whether that actually happens. I guess at the moment were really just looking for a few relaxing days on the beach in the sun...

Through the thick of it I must say I am continually amazed at how helpful people are. Malc from England offered to send out another memory card for me and other people have asked for ways they can help out!

Thanks a lot for the support guys, in the mean time know that we are loving Tanzania. It seems like we always tell of our struggles on here, just know were still enjoying are stay and meeting all kinds of people and enjoying our time.

Cheers,
Jordan
