Help WarChild

We have chosen to raise both awareness and funds for WarChild. They are a charity that work among both children that have fought in wars and been affected by them. To reintegrate child soldiers back into society is an extremely difficult task that can be long and painful. From a young age the children have been brainwashed, forced to fight and taught to kill their own people.

Growing up in Africa I have been through evacuations, political instability and wars. One particular instance will always stand out. One day, war broke out in Congo (Brazzaville) and soldiers began looting. Three men approached our house, they had heard our family had just received a new Nissan 4x4, naturally, as they were in need of vehicles they came to our doorstep armed with rifles. We had no choice but to let them take what they wanted.

What I (Jordan) will always remember clearly is the sight of a young teenager, most likely 15-16 years old, holding a rifle ready to fire if his wishes weren't met. As the image has stuck with me so vividly since then I have decided to travel across Africa, not to enter areas where there is war but to discover more of the continent I grew up in while also contributing to helping children who have fought in wars, who have been forced to kill and who have had no choice in their future.

Please donate to the cause as you see fit to play your role in helping these children:
