The Update

Well we have made it to Lusaka, Zambia. Our time in Botswana was really great, we got to see a lot of the country and met some great people. While we were in Francistown my motorcycle needed some fixing (from the Botswanan enduro motocross champion), once we got it back the difference was incredible and I felt like I had a brand new bike (kind of).
Another plus to being in Francistown was that Jordan got his UK motorcycle license.
We actually went to the mechanic's personal dirt track and road around on it some. Here's some of the pictures of Jordan taking the jumps.
The drive north through Botswana was pretty scenic, we got to see a lot of elephants on the side of the road, and it got to a point after about 3 stops to look and take pictures of them that we just began driving past them. I think I saw more elephants that day than birds. After 2 days we reached the border sans problem.
Crossing was a bit of an ordeal as always. Our paper work was not completely to the liking of one of the officials and when we asked "Well what are we to do now?" his response was "End your journey."
Well that's wasn't going to happen and with a little patience and persuation we had him stamping the papers and sending us on our way. We then caught a ferry across the river into Zambia. Upon reaching the ferry and crossing, both Jordan and I felt that we had entered the Africa that we were used to. Once arriving in Zambia we had 5 offices to visit and between each people trying to help us, to try and change money, to sell us things and just generally trying to rip us off.
We finished at the border just 15 minutes before closing. Then drove to Livingstone.
We spent 2 nights in Livingstone and spent one day at Victoria Falls, gave a bamboon peanut butter, and tried to cross the bridge to Zimbabwe.
We ended up getting a slow start out of Livingstone and drove in the dark for 3+ hours. Not very fun to say the least. We were glad to arrive finally in Lusaka. We've been here now 3 nights, staying with two families, the Hilty's and Huckaby's who know a mechanic, which is currently working on Jordan's bike (replacing the timing chain).
Yesterday, while Jordan was riding my bike yesterday it died, but I'll let him tell that story.
Today we spent the day trying to figure out what might be wrong with my bike, but no luck. So we flagged down a truck to take us into town to the mechanic.Hopefully tomorrow everything can be fixed on both bikes and picked up tomorrow. We're not holding our breathe and are expecting to be here over the weekend.

  1. Sounds like you guys have had a real rough patch the further you went up. Tell jordan to stop breaking everything. if its not your bike or his bike its his camera lens. Was great having you guys with us for those few night all the best for the trip further.
    Regards
