why yes we are stuck...

Life has been rather difficult the last 6 days... we are stuck in Lusaka. Last weekend we were able to catch a ride with someone who was going to Lake Kariba, where we got to see the dam that powers parts of both Zambia and Zimbabwe. It was a fun Saturday outing, but since then life has been rather boring. After leaving my bike with the mechanic for 5 days, he just informed us that he has been unable to find the part to my bike... which actually makes the whole thing start.

Our options are now very limited and we need to get on the road...

Option 1:
Try to order the part from South Africa, pay loads for it to get here, wait all the while, and likely not leave till next week sometime, then pay loads to the mechanic to fix it all.

Option 2: try to hitchhike out of here with the bikes heading for Tanzania...

Option 3: burn the bike

Option 4: try to only go on our one (semi) working bike

Option 5: see if we can somehow take a train to Dar es Salaam

(if you'd like to add to our options please comment below, all ideas welcome)

We are happy to relax, don't get me wrong... both Jordan and I have finished our books (and starting new ones) while here in Lusaka. In fact this is the first time that we've really had time to read them, but Lusaka isn't exactly the place for it. We've both been dreaming of the beaches in Zanzibar, and landlocked Zambia is far from it.

Thanks for reading, and hopefully some good news will be coming soon

  1. Life is a rush..literally. Everything is done in a hurry. Take time and enjoy where you are. Enjoying the journey..even if you are stuck..this is part of the enjoyment of a motorcycle trip. You may be uncomfortable but step back and take a different look at what is around you. You could be surprised at what you see. I guarantee that wherever you end your trip, your view of the world will have changed.
